Honolulu Plumbing

Honolulu Plumbing Co. will finalize its last projects before closing its doors, after over 100 years of service in Hawaii. Glenn Tango, Owner and Manager, shared that the company has been in his family since its origination - founded by Glenn's grandfather in 1919. Coincidently, 1919 was also the year the Plumbers and Fitters Local 675 received its charter from the United Association of the United States and Canada. According to Glenn, one of the company's greatest accomplishments was its ability to grow and evolve alongside history. The company shares a historical timeline with the Local 675 Union and Hawaii's growing economy throughout the generations.

Honolulu Plumbing officially became a signatory company with the Union in the 1950's when it was under the leadership of Glenn's father and union member, Richard Tango. He states, "This was one of the best things to happen to us." The timing was great as this was also when Hawaii gained statehood. This created a boom in construction throughout the island. Honolulu Plumbing took on many federal projects and schools at this time, including the State Office Building. Glenn said, "Throughout the years the projects we took on followed the wave of growth in the community." He started working part-time at the company in high school and later took over as Business Owner in 2000. With 44 years of service as a union member, he oversaw 15 employees. Over the years, Honolulu Plumbing worked on many new condominiums, state and government buildings including the State Judiciary Building and the Hawaii State Veteran's Hospital. Glenn plans to enjoy retirement by traveling with his wife. We thank our Brother Glenn Tango for his dedicated service as a member and contractor and wish him and his family all the best!
